Back then Fx crashed for some reason, and as we know it can then offer to restore the previous session, which might cause a new crash, so one can opt for a new session instead. This happened around two months ago, with version 20 (now running Fx 22). Obviously, I have not used CCleaner, or similar software, when I try this and I have not set Fx to clear the (browsing) history on exit (or using private browsing). Here is this "ghost" process that uses 0% of my CPU and only 29.3MB of memory. What is interesting is that this process does not show up within Process Explorer. If I don't, then IE11 is unable to load the previous session. If I manually end this process, IE11 can restore the previous session. I noticed that after closing Internet Explorer 11 an Internet Explorer process would remain running after the IE11 window was closed.
